📺 Welcome to Jayce’s Media Server
🦐 Part 1: Tailscale Setup (VPN)
Tailscale is the private network that lets your device securely reach the media server.
- Create a Tailscale account
- Preferably start on a phone or PC browser: Create an Account
- Sign up with an email, or link an existing Google/Microsoft/GitHub account.
-
Download the Tailscale app on whatever device you want to watch on (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS): Download Link
-
Sign in on the app using the same account you just created. This adds your device to your Tailscale network (“tailnet”).
- Join the media server’s network — click this invite link I’ve shared on the same device:
- I’ll send you this link directly (text/DM) — it’s not posted publicly since it lets someone join the network.
After clicking, you should see both

Turn Tailscale on — there’s a toggle/button (usually top-left or in the menu bar) to activate the connection.
- Repeat steps 2–5 on every device you want to use to watch (phone, tablet, laptop, etc.). Each device needs Tailscale installed and turned on.
🪼 Part 2: Jellyfin Setup (the media server itself)

- Connect to the server:

ℹ️ General Info
- Tailscale must be installed and turned on for the media server to be reachable on that device.
- Tailscale downloads: Tailscale download link
- Streamyfin looks nicer, but if your device doesn’t support it, Jellyfin has official apps for almost everything: List of Jellyfin Apps
- If you already use another VPN, you can switch between VPNs any time in your device’s VPN/network settings.
- Some devices (like Rokus) may not support Tailscale — if there’s no app for it, streaming there may not be possible.
